Hollow Bones Grenache
This is the second release of what started as a little experiment in the shed and has now developed into a main satay of ours.
2017 was a little warmer than 2016 so picking a bit riper we got a more generous style than the previous year. Still pretty lean comparatively to our mates in South Australia though !!!
Whole berries left in the shed for 8months. Drained through the skins for filtration and then put straight to bottle. Not sulphur at any stage.
There is nothing typical about cool climate Grenache !! It’s rare as hens teeth. When looking at it though, we do find very similar varietal notes to Grenache grown in warmer climates, those meaty (almost bloody) savoury characters, dark fruits, with those little hits of violets and rose petals. Almost Pinot Noir perfume. Delicious …..
